Matthew 7:24-27 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. but everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." Each of us can only build our own house. And the Bible tells us that we are even more than a house. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body (1 Corinthians 6:19, 20). The wise and the foolish both hear the words of Jesus. The foolish just choose not to do them. James reminds us, . . . faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead (1:17). Are we really believing if we don't believe enough to put Jesus' words into action? And we don't have to do it in our own strength. God has so graciously given us His Spirit to live in us to empower us. Jesus is the Carpenter.
