1 Peter 3:9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. In the Old Testament, we see the role of fathers speaking a blessing to their sons. Fathers, I believe, are called to see the blessing of the Lord in their children and call it forth and mothers also to nurture it in their children. We can all be mothers and fathers in the faith and call forth the blessings in others. We do not bless what God has cursed but we see His blessings and call them forth. When God called Abraham, the father of our faith, He said to him, "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you (Genesis 12:2, 3)." We can also bless others by blessing our Father God. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light (1 Peter 2:9). What we give out, we live in. And what we live in, we give out. Change the atmosphere. Breathe the breath of heaven. . . .the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. . . .(Genesis 2:7). Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. . .(John 20:21,22)."
