Matthew 13:23 "But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown." Kenny and I were blessed to be a part of a memorial service celebrating the life of a special lady, 84-year-old Florence Kidd, this weekend in North East, MD. Kenny sang at the service. The thing that spoke of her perfectly was something that her grand daughter said about her. She said she had heard her daughter tell someone about Kenny, that you don't just meet Kenny, you experience him. Quite true, I thought! And she thought that this was also a great way to characterize her grandmother, the observation that one doesn't just know Maw, as they called her, but that you experienced her. She was indeed someone who really listened to people, who really connected with you and engaged in talking with you. This woman was very kind and very welcoming to all. She didn't seem to do anything she did half-hearted but put her whole heart into everything she did. She even worked (for a group of lawyers) right up to the very end! The pastor spoke of her as one who bore much fruit and how her fruit will continue in all who knew her. We were blessed to have known Florence and her wonderful family!
Florence was on our email list and received our Wine From the Vine daily. She often spoke of how much she enjoyed it and was encouraged by it. Praise the Lord for one who not only heard the Word but lived it right where she was. She is a testimony of someone who received the seed that fell on good soil and, not only heard the Word, but experienced it so vividly in her life. When we think of the Word of God, it is not just important to just mentally assent to knowing it; having a real revelation of the truth of the word of God is only fully realized when we experience it/Him to live it out. James, brother of our Lord, has much to say about this. In a nutshell, . . .faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead (James 2;17). I am grateful to be linked with those of you who desire to experience the Word daily in your lives. Truly, you are bearing much fruit!
