1 Thessalonians 5:23, 24 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
What an encouraging word we have today! Paul has been calling the Thessalonians to faithfulness in God. And now he tells them that as they give themselves to Him, He is the faithful One who is working in them. Our part is to put ourselves into God's hands, to yield to Him. Then He is the One who is doing the work. Philippians 2:12 and 13 tells us to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. In Colossians, Paul speaks of a hidden mystery now revealed, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). And we know that He never quits working (Philippians 1:6), being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Yes, the one who calls you is faithful and he will do it. 1 Timothy 2:11-13 tells us about the faithfulness of God: Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself. God's very nature is to be faithful; He can not do otherwise!
