Proverbs 8:1, 10, 11 Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?. . . Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her. . .
I know that I am being very redundant in continuing to speak about wisdom. But so does the book of Proverbs. And that, my friend, simply points to how very important it is to choose wisdom. Today, we are reminded once again, that just as there are many voices crying out to us, there is the voice of wisdom calling out to us, as well. Let us not be turned aside from the path of wisdom. Wisdom is all that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord for He is all wisdom. If we will heed wisdom and follow after it, there is great reward. The paths we take affect our lives tremendously and the life of others, as well.
The last 5 verses of this chapter show us the path to the blessed life: "Now then, my sons, listen to me: blessed are those who keep my ways. Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it. Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the LORD. But whoever fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death." Many speak of favor from the Lord. The path to favor is wisdom. It is the path that carries His blessing. On the night Jesus was born, the shepherds heard the heavenly chorus of angels praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests (Luke 2:14)." Paul speaks of our wisdom in 1 Corinthians 1:30, 31: It is because of him [God] that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." Wisdom is knowing that we do not know it all but that He does. Trust Him! Hear His voice!
