John 5:39, 40, 46, 47 You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life. . . . If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say? The Scriptures are never at odds with Jesus. Jesus Christ is the Word made flesh. When we speak of being in the Word daily, it is not apart from Jesus. Jesus is the Word. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. . . .The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:1, 2, 14). Jesus is the full picture of the Word and His Spirit reveals Him to us. "but when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. . . He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you (John 16:13-15)." Jesus and the Word are One.
