Proverbs 4:18 The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.
Sometimes we may not have the full picture yet but if we keep on walking in the light, it will get brighter and brighter. And that's something we can apply to all our lives. I noticed a post by an older woman on facebook yesterday and realized I was in the same bracket.:) Let me share it with you: "To all my female friends of "age". . . [And men can relate to this, as well.] Most of us are going through the next stage of our lives. We are at that age where we see the wrinkles, gray hair, extra pounds, etc. Menopause has already showed up or just waiting around the corner? We see the pretty 25-year-olds and you rock! We were 25 once, too. Just like us, they will one day be our age, too. It sure does go by fast! What they bring to the table with their youth and zest for life, we bring with our wisdom, experience and good hearts. For all we've been through earning each gray hair, raising kids, bills and ills, and whatever else life has brought us in the 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's. . . we are survivors. . . we have become warriors. . . we are women of strength. Like a classic car or a strong oak. Our exterior may not be what it once was, but it was traded for a wise spirit, ceaseless courage and solid strength. Now, we can enter into this new chapter of our lives with grace and pride because of all we've experienced and accomplished. Never feel bad about aging again. It is a privilege denied to many."
As we do grow older, we can hope that we will become wiser. And let us older share with the younger and help them along their way. Some may not want to listen but some will. Experience is often a hard teacher. Learning from someone else's experience is wise. However, each of us must walk our own path, hoe our own row, also. There are some things we just have to walk through--at any age. But anywhere we walk we can be assured that the One who is Light has walked there before us and is walking with us and is still teaching us on our journey. We never become too old to learn. 'Til the day we die we can continue to learn. We can even learn something from the young ones, as well.
The faith chapter, Hebrews 11, shares about the many journeys of those who have walked by faith. It's final 2 verses say this: These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect. That something better is Jesus Christ. He is the One with whom we are join-heirs of an awesome inheritance. We begin to walk in it in this life but just keep on walking as Enoch into those heavenly heights beyond what we can now see. May our testimony be that of Enoch in Genesis 5:24, Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. Let us keep walking more and more into the light. There is much more Life to discover and experience.
