2 Timothy 4:8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
Paul, here, is realizing that his life is soon coming to an end. He looks toward his reward. And he includes all of us who have longed for his appearing. What about it? Do you have a longing for His appearing today? Would you like for Him to show up right now in your life? Is there a storm in which you'd like to see Him walking on the water in the middle of the dark night? Are you battling an illness of any kind that needs His touch? Do you need some wisdom in a situation in which you find yourself? Yes, what about it? Would you really like for Him to show up right now? Would He be a welcome sight or a sight to cause fear and trembling?
In John 5, we read the story of an invalid by the Pool of Bethesda. Verse 6 is very interesting. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, "Do you want to get well?" Immediately he throws out excuses. But the One who can heal was right in front of him and offered that healing. He took it.
Lord, let us welcome You into our need. We long for Your appearing.
