Jesus said, "Now this is eternal life; that they may know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." (John 17:3)
How do we know Him?
*Because of man's original sin in the Garden of Eden, a sin nature was passed on to all mankind. "All have sinned and fall short of God's glory." (Romans 3:23). We ADMIT that we are a sinner in need of a Savior.
*In and through Jesus Christ that glory is restored--"Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Colossians 1:27)--as we BELIEVE in Him. We know Him as our Savior who was crucified as the atoning sacrifice for our sin, buried and resurrected to confirm our justification by His blood. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
*We CONFESS what we believe in our hearts (Romans 10:9, 10) and are born again by the Spirit of God (John 3:3). Christ then comes to live in us by His Spirit and we live in Him. "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come" (2 Corinthians 5:17)!
*We DWELL DAILY with Him moment by moment, knowing Him more. "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me" (Philippians 3:12).
